Meet the team

Alek Golikov, Veterinary Surgeon

Alek graduated in 2013, and spent three years gaining invaluable experience in practice before joining the team here at Lakeview in August 2016.

Alek has a keen interest in surgery and is currently undertaking further studies to complete a certificate in small animal surgery. 

When Alek is not taking care of the pets who visit us at Lakeview he enjoys mostly outdoor activities like travelling, exploring and going for long rambles with his rescue dog Bailey - Bailey can be seen posing alongside Alek!

Shahar Somer, Veterinary Surgeon 

Shahar qualified as a Veterinary Surgery in 2014, and spent the three years post graduation gaining extensive veterinary skills. His global experience includes orthopaedic surgery in Slovakia and general practice in both Israel and the UK. 

Shahar enjoys all aspects of veterinary care but has a particular interest in general medicine and surgery. Joining the Lakeview team permanently in 2017 he is looking forward to meeting with you all!

When he is not caring for Lakeview pets Shahar spends time with his family enjoying the outdoor life in Deal.

Christine Wilson, Head Nurse

Chris is our Head Nurse that joined the practice in May 2017, she qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1998 making her a very experienced member of our team. 

She has interests in anything practical, especially schedule 3 surgery such as stitching up wounds and lump biopsies.

Outside of work she enjoys showing and judging Scottish Deerhounds, running her dogs and photography.

Michelle Chitty, Animal Nursing Assistant

Michelle joined the practice in 1995 as a part time member of staff and became full time in 2005. She then qualified as an animal nursing assistant (ANA) and started up our breeders’ clinics. 

She keeps improving the service provided and is in sole charge of the organization of these clinics. 

In her spare time she enjoys the showing and breeding of dogs to a very high standard receiving the best of breed at Crufts in 2007. She is an accredited breeder.

Alison MacKay, Animal Nursing Assistant

Ali started her time with us as a work experience student and became a full time member of staff in 2001, and is now a qualified ANA taking on a variety of different rolls within the practice.

Ali has a Pug, miniature Dachshund and a French Bulldog puppy and has enjoyed litters from her Pug and Dachshund.

She has been riding horses since she was little and her daughters are now following in her footsteps.

Koren Weyand, Veterinary Care Assistant

Koren joined DNA Vetcare in February 2017 as a Veterinary Care Assistant working between Lakeview vets and our sister practice Briar House in Broadstairs. 

Koren has been working in the veterinary industry since 2011 and hopes to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse.

Outside of work Koren has a black belt in Karate and enjoys teaching children self defence at her local club and looking after her rescue tortoise.

Jane Westhead, Receptionist

Jane has been part of Lakeview since 1982.

Jane has been a member of our team the longest; she joined the practice in 1982! 

Jane can be found on reception most mornings with her dog Tizz.

Outside of work she enjoys taking Tizz for walks, outdoor life and horse riding.

Penny Kempshall, Receptionist

Penny joined us in March 2007 as a receptionist and has since taken on the role of administrator and liaising with Animal Health. 

She has been involved with horses for many years. 

Penny enjoys her garden and spends many hours working outdoors.

Tizz

Tizz is a familiar face at the practice who comes to work with Jane most mornings to help on reception. 

Jane rescued her from one of the local charities a few years ago and she has become a valuable member of the team and is much loved by the clients.
